Parent/Teen Conference

Prepare. Plant. Prune. Produce. Growth is seldom ever random. It only happens when the plan for determining the size and shape of the individual is well followed. If you desire to personally grow, and your passion for Christ involves being led on an adventure designed by our Creator, then make plans to join us November 11-12 for a dynamic Parent/Teen Conference. We will be planting and watering the seeds to help parents and teenagers produce a developing faith, a nurturing relationship with God, and a fruitful growing life. The goal of Growing Together is to equip parents and teenagers...

The Birthday Surprise

Setting the Stage Wow, I will never forget that day! It was Wednesday, March 9 and we were all gathered in the High School Room finishing a group game. All of a sudden one of our seniors, Chris Mericle, takes the microphone and takes over (scary thought). I look up to see all the Middle School students packing into the room already filled with the high schoolers – I knew something was up. The “Gift” Chris and the other culprit behind the plan, R.L. Bell, presented me with a wrapped box for my birthday. I was pleased to receive a gift from my youth group – I thought...

Facing Your Giants

This semester we have launched a new small group Sunday school series from the book Facing Your Giants by Max Lucado.  The series will help all students and group leaders to recognize the “Goliaths” in their lives as well as prepare themselves to face the giant head on.  An excerpt from the back cover of the teen edition says, Unwavering faith allowed the young shepard David to defeat the giant Goliath with nothing more than a simple stone. What modern-day giants are you facing? Do they make you feel like you’re an insignificant bug about to be squashed on the windshield...

New Year Goals!

January 1st always brings a sense of new beginning to my mind. It seems to be the time that everyone is thinking about all their new goals, resolutions, and ambitions. Some want to lose weight while others want to read more. Some will strive to have a better attitude while others look to become more disciplined. As I think about my personal life there are many things that I am going to set as goals for this new year. I am asking God to give me the personal discipline and ambition to work towards these goals. I am setting up accountability partners in many of these areas so that I can look...

Passing the Baton (PT1)

Passing the Baton (PT1)

One of the most anticipated events at the track and field venue requires precise timing and concentration.  Without attention to the details this event will fail – the event is the 4 x 100 meter relay race.  This event includes the passing of a little stick, called a baton.  The sprinters come tearing around the track, baton in hand, and many things can go wrong. They can miss their mark on the track and overrun the passing zone. They can fumble the toss and quickly drop the baton to the ground. They can make a successful pass but go so slowly that the race is lost. When you watch a...
